GRADE 10: Who are the Russians?

•  What contributions have Russians made in the spheres of music, art, literature, and cinema?
•  How did these artists reflect their feelings about Russia in their works?
•  Who are the talented Russians of today?

Celebrations

•  What do Russians celebrate that we do not celebrate? (Women's Day, Maslenitsa, Victory Day, etc.)
•  How are those occasions celebrated?
•  What holidays do Russia and the US have in common? (Easter and Holy Week, birthdays, New Year, etc.)
•  How do the celebrations of those days differ in the two countries?
•  Which Russian holidays would you consider adopting?

Metro and Transportation

•  How do Russians get from place to place within a city?
•  How do Russians get from city to city and across the country?
•  What restrictions have existed on international travel?
•  What are some of the unique problems Russia had to solve to construct its transportation systems?
•  How is the role of the car different in Russia and in the US ?

World War II in Russia

•  What events lead up to the invasion of the USSR in 1941?

•  Why is the Moscow Kremlin historically significant?
•  When were the major buildings built?
•  What purpose does the Kremlin serve today?
