I am living back in Glastonbury and proud to be a part of the current Foreign Language Department teaching Spanish at Smith Middle School. I never thought that I would be a Spanish teacher but my senior year in college I started tutoring the children of migrant workers from Mexico and loved the experience so much I decided to become a teacher.

My years in Glastonbury paved the way to me becoming a language teacher. I grew up with the belief that Spanish, and languages in general, were always part of school. When I went to college I tested into junior level Spanish. I initially was going to minor in Spanish. Then every semester I was taking classes and my advisor told me that I had enough to major! I think that the importance Glastonbury places on languages filters into the beliefs of the students. Most of my classmates continued to study a language at the college level. Spanish was always fun and I think starting in the elementary school, for me, helped to make it more enjoyable.
