I am Kate Krotzer, a 2003 GHS graduate. Currently, I am a senior
at UCONN in the Neag School of Education studying Spanish
Education. I started learning Spanish in second grade at Hebron
Avenue School and I continued up to AP Spanish at GHS. Now it's my
major and soon I'll be teaching it. I have always enjoyed Spanish
and am glad to have had the opportunity to start it so early. As a
sophomore at UCONN I studied abroad in Granada, Spain, and had a
fabulous time living with a Spanish family, taking classes and
exploring the city all the while using and perfecting my Spanish
skills. I liked it so much that I went back this past May to
visit! I feel that my positive language learning experiences in
Glastonbury have helped me to develop my appreciation and interest
in learning Spanish and gave me the strong foundation I needed to
have such a comfort level with Spanish that allowed me to study it successfully in college. I can't wait until I have the chance to
teach students a language so that it can become a part of their lives like it has mine.
